We took the train into the city yesterday to see some sights, and grab some lunch. The subway dropped us on South Street - just a few blocks away from Philadelphia's best cheese steaks... Jim's! Great lunch! I've missed the steaks alot since being gone.
After being, mostly, down for the last 2 weeks we're back online! The move did not go well for the infrastructure... However, the site is now back up, we have email, and even DirecTV! Weather stats are next on the list and then the wireless bridge...

"Life is too short to eat small crabs" That's what the guy in line, at Bahama Mama's, said to me last year. And we've heeded his advice ever since. Jon and I hit the brightly painted shack, in Fenwick Island, and ordered (properly) a half bushel of some of the best (XL) crabbies that we've had in a long time!

After last year's run in with the law (Delaware Park Rangers) something had to be done. Sam and I hit the State Park office early this morning and got a surf fishing license for the rig. The license allows the truck free access to all of Delaware's state parks, and all beaches that permit surf fishing. The only caveat (beach wise) is that you have to be actively fishing to have the truck on the beach. My line, with a lead weight, caught nothing (ha) while we were there. I'm sure we will, eventually, really fish - but in the meantime this makes lugging everything to the beach so much easier!

The transition to the new house has been a little rough... We have no cell phone service at home, or the surrounding streets. The house is too far from the central office, so we are without DSL service. The yard is heavily wooded, so the DirecTV guys just drove away and said it couldn't be done. So we're left with cable...

We all jumped in the Hudson (it sits 8 comfortably) today and went for a feel better ride. The 3 speed on the column (plus overdrive on the dash) transmission took a little getting used to, but it was a blast to drive! We hit the Wayne Jazz and Street festival and then took in the Panhandle's classic car show! The highlights of which were a beautiful old LaSalle, and a gorgeous Bentley. Nobody knew we were coming so there was no sign for the 51 Hudson Pacemaker - but everyone loved it just the same.

The movers weren't quite as fast as we were led to believe they would be... Sam and I spent last night at the Chagrin Inn (the girls all having left yesterday afternoon for Philly). That was alright, we had a bunch of projects left to do anyways. Larry and his crew finally closed the truck up around 2:00 pm and headed East. Sam and I hit Dave's Cosmic Subs for the last time, and then sadly strolled through Riverside Park and the Arts fest. We were on the road to Philly by 5:30 pm.

It's hard to believe that it's finally here... The moving truck arrived bright and early this morning and they started hauling us away.
The Chag Town weather site is now officially offline. While the equipment still remains on the roof (probably until later this afternoon) the 1-Wire network, travelling through the garage, has been severed (so I can patch the hole in the office wall). The equipment will be remounted, eventually, at the new locale. Maybe we'll even have barometric sensing when it goes back on line...
So I started drawing triangles again tonight... You see, my initial calculations only included the angle of inclination (Dad) and declination (us). I had forgotten to account for the fact that we'll need to aim our antenna back towards his antenna, and vice versa.
So now (much math later), armed with all of the angles (Us = -14° declination, and 15° right, Dad = 13° inclination, and 75° right) I have a perfect picture of what things should look like. Unfortunately, that picture is only in my head. I have scoured the web looking for an app that will take my XYZ coordinates and plot them for me. But I can't seem to find anything that will do the trick.
The drawing aside though, I'm beginning to question whether the whole thing is really feasible. While we're only talking about covering an area 693' in length it is through thick foliage - which 2.4 Ghz signals apparently are considerably affected by...

Meagan starred as Goldilocks, this morning, in her classe's production of Goldilocks and the Three Bullfrogs! She did a wonderful job - we were very proud of her.

The town stopped by last night to touch up the stop sign markings on the street. And Sam used it as an opportunity to stop hauling wood to the back...

The Chag Town weather station is scheduled to go offline sometime this weekend. The 1-Wire weather station, running Simon Melhuish's excellent weather software OWW (One Wire Weather), has been serving the Chagrin Valley since January of 2003 (April 2003 for mobile users). Look for a new weather station, serving Radnor PA's Panhandle later this month.

Meg watched over the beach at Chagrin Lakes tonight. We were there for Kate's preschool picnic. Katy had a wonderful school year - we're sad to see it end.
The other day Jon and I got to talking about scripts, the GPL, and carrots. And I got to thinking about how many times my carrots had been used. So, I thought it would be neat to add a download counter - to track their use - to the page. I popped over to Hotscripts to get such a beast, but I didn't make out so well...

2004 Blossom Time is over, and the carnies have packed up. Kate, Kel and I strolled through Riverside Park this afternoon to bid the Gravitron (shown) farewell.
