Teach Science, not Fairy Tales

I was always told "don't talk about Religion or Politics" or you'll risk offending somebody. But how can I keep my mouth shut with what's going on right here in Ohio? People For The American Way sent me an eMail today to remind me of the upcoming State School Board vote on altering Ohio's science curriculum...

It seems some of the bible thumpers in the state have forgotten (remind then) about the separation of church and state, and are trying to interject Intelligent Design into my kids' science classes. Come on... If you want to believe then believe, but you can't force the rest of us to believe. The bible is a lovely story, but it sure isn't scientific. I believe that there is a place for religion in school, but not in the science classrooms. Nor do I believe that if religion is taught in public schools that it should it be limited to Christianity. A course in comparative religions would make alot more sense, and would offend far less people. But, I'm thinking the right wing conservatives that are pushing this ludicrous initiative don't want to confuse our students with the possibility that Judaism, Hinduism, Buddism, Muslim, etc. are also possibilities if the Intelligent Design could even be considered.
